An active back is a healthy back

The complex interplay of bones, ligaments, joints, and muscles makes the spinal column so susceptible to injury that 80 percent of all people have suffered back pain at some point in their lives. Recent studies have shown that muscle exertion is good for the back, strenghtening the spinal column on a long-term basis.

Among patients with back problems, the root causes typically involve massive muscle tension, shortening of individual muscle groups, and weakening of other muscles (such as those of the abdomen). First-line treatment therefore generally focuses on restoring optimum muscle function.

To demonstrate the back-strengthening function of the ONGO® Seat, a study was performed at the Institute for Movement Analysis and Musculoskeletal System Quality Control (IBQ) in Bonn, Germany.

Results of the back study: Exercising with the ONGO® Seat for 6-8 minutes a day over a period of four weeks already accomplished substantial improvements of the patients with back pain. The ONGO® Move Exercise Program was developed based on these medical findings.
